WHEN YOU are trying to tell your builder what you want in your new home, you can use some powerful digital tools to help get your message across … this helps your builder give you what you’re really after.

A very helpful program for anyone comfortable using it, is Powerpoint which is part of the Microsoft Office suite of software.

If you don’t want to spring for a copy of Office, Google offers their free Google Slides on Google Drive.

Google Slides does the job as well as Powerpoint, it’s free, and allows you to export your file as Powerpoint, PDF and other formats.

Building Buddy CEO, Joh Domingo, says these days many clients use digital technology to get across what they’re after in their new home.

“Being able to provide imagery to help get their requirements across makes it much easier for our designers to create something unique which also reflects our clients’ desires,” he said.

“Sometimes our clients use Powerpoint to provide their design brief, showing us various items they want to be included in their new home.”

“When they give us images of things they desire, it allows us to synthesise a unique design incorporating the home design elements they are keen on.”

Joh showed me a slide from one client’s Powerpoint presentation which showed various elements she wanted in her new home.

“Ruth isn’t just saying she wanted a skillion roof, what she was trying to convey this set of slides was that she wanted something modern, stylish and architectural,” Joh explained.

This kind of digital presentation gives Building Buddy designers a good ‘feel’ for the clients’ tastes; he said.

“For example, in this project our designer, Simin, was able to create a presentation for Ruth that reflected what she was after, even though it doesn’t mimic precisely, any of the individual examples Ruth had provided.”

Ruth’s project is scheduled to be completed in March 2017. She is delighted with the results achieved by Building Buddy and Cooringa Homes.
